Wine Tasting in Quealy Wines' Barrel Room

Wine Tasting in Quealy Wines' Barrel Room

Kathleen (Kat) Quealy and Kevin McCarthy arrived on the Mornington Peninsula in the late 80s armed with their winemaking degrees.

They worked in many vineyards and developed many wineries on the Mornington Peninsula. They are acclaimed as pioneers of Pinot Grigio, rare Italian varietals and styles. They are a dynamic creative force in Australia’s wine industry.

Quealy Winemakers have four single vineyard Pinot Noirs. These wines are largely made in the vineyard. In this masterclass Kat will discuss how to recognise a great site. They have forged their own vineyard management that directs wine to have natural concentrations of acid, ripe tannin and distinctive flavour. Kat describes their style as postmodern winemaking.
